Camping.
After much thought about what to do this weekend, we decided on camping. We did some tent camping this trip and went down to Skilak. We had such an exciting time on this trip that I'm going to have to post two entries to get all the information and pictures in. On our way down to Skilak via Death Highway (aka Seward Highway) we took a little side trip to Byron Glacier. Autumn and I just went there not very long ago, but if you will recall, the weather was horrible!!!!!!!!!!! Since it was sunny and clear, we decided we should go again.
Our first stop, a motorcycle accident. This lady laid her bike down on Porter Glacier road, but it wasn't the first time we saw her. She passed us on Seward Highway. She was driving too close to us, too fast and passed us in an unsafe way. As much as I was surprised she was laid out on the side of the road, I wasn't surprised. Sean got out to access the situation.
She'll be OK. She still had all her limbs and appendages, just a bit banged up. An off duty Fireman showed up and took control of the scene. We carried on with our trip to Byron Glacier.
My little Linus. Getting her to leave her blanket in the car is becoming a very daunting task.
I liked this picture because that is Sean in the background. It is also a little "Lord of the Flies".
Falling in the snow.
Byron Glacier.
My new favorite family photo. We sure are a good looking family!
After exploring Byron Glacier and getting some photos, we continued our journey to Skilak. Once we arrived, it took us a little bit of time to find a camping spot. It was quite busy down there. We bumped into a very lovely Park Ranger who released a handicap spot to Sean after talking to him for just a moment. I was somewhat amused by this, but glad to have a camping spot! Now it was time to set up camp. We tried to solicit Autumn's help, but we couldn't get her off the phone!
What on Earth are we going to do with her when she becomes a teenager!
Sean got our tent up in no time at all. Do you see that spot of red stuff behind our tent. Yep! That is bear scat. We are set up on Bear Alley as it was referred to us by the Park Ranger. She told us not to worry, but not to be a bear attractor!
I took Autumn down to the lake to throw some rocks.
Autumn could do this for hours. You can see that rock midair.
Splash!
There were gazillions of spiders down there on the beach. Kind of creepy.
Back at camp, Autumn needed a snack near the fire Sean got going for us.
Hanging out waiting for dinner.
Yummy!!! Hot dogs and Chili.
The best part of dinner and camping!
After dinner, we all went down to the lake and Sean tried to teach Autumn how to skip rocks.
A little video for you.
A silly family photo.
That was day one! I'll have to tell you about day two tomorrow! I'm ready for bed!

It looked like it was fun, though! Except for those spiders...I'd sooner deal with roaches and beetles than with spiders...much less those gigantic ones! Spiders are so creepy!
