Of ice and men.
Sean and I had gone out to Beach Lake at 1 am to try and find aurora borealis.
While we were out there, we heard the eerie lake noises from the expansion and contraction of ice.
We wanted to check out the ice situation during the day, so Sean grabbed his drill and off we went:
There was more ice than we thought there would be!
It's about an inch or two thick near the shore.
From the evening trek out to the lake.
The big dipper.
We didn't see any northern lights, but we did see a ton of stars.
The lake noises had me running back to the car.
I suddenly realized there could be animals out there and I wouldn't know!
Back to day time adventures.
Sean put on his dry suit and off he went.
While he skated, I went for a run.
It was awesome!
Hurt my lungs a bit, but I'm ok today.
After Beach Lake, we headed back home to shower up and grab Millie.
She needs a COVID test for her upcoming surgery.
Of course, we couldn't get it today, she will have to come back a bit closer to her surgery, so we stopped by the pond just across from our old housing area on base.
This ice was much thicker than beach lake, so we went home, Sean grabbed his nordic skates,
and off he went.
I walked around the pond with my yaktrax.
