Walking in a winter wonderland.
Over the weekend, we went for a family walk at Arctic Valley. We've been there many times before and to my surprise, there was a trail near the very area where I often park. I never noticed it before- WOW! I am so aware of my surroundings. Anyway, back to the walk. I told Sean that I wanted to get some sunshine, but didn't want to be cold, so he selected this area-which made me a little grumpy since what I had in mind was the mall. So we get started on this trail.
Evil Sean and Happy Autumn.
It was uphill-the whole way (out and back), hence the whole being warm while walking outside in the cold. At least I was only carrying my body weight-Sean says to me, "Autumn isn't getting any lighter."
We found a nice area to stop and let Autumn walk in the snow. We haven't really given her an opportunity to do this yet. I am not sure why-I guess because it sucks if they fall in the snow.
Autumn started to walk (with Sean RIGHT behind her) and before I know it, she takes a face plant, right in the snow. Thanks to past experience, I know to wipe the snow off of her face immediately, but she got a little bit in one of her sleeves. Sean looks at her and says we need to get down to the car now. I know that means she is in a little bit of trouble and that frost nip could be inevitable.
Autumn's face looked like that all the way down the hill. Because we were moving at a good clip, it was a little windy. We finally made it back to the car and Autumn was still crying. Her snot was a little frozen, but we know not to touch it. I took Autumn out of her snow suit and got her warmed up. Her skin looked a little rough the next day, but we survived. Next time, maybe we could just go to the mall??
