Day 3- Fredericktown, MO to Sioux City, Iowa.
Again, I make sure I start each day off with a decent walk. I'm very determined to still meet my step goal even though we are traveling.
Where Brandon and Julie lives is a really beautiful area of the country.
I had no idea how much I would enjoy the area surrounding their property.
Dingo loved it here too. He tried his hand at cattle dogging!!!!!
We couldn't believe how he instantly knew what to do.
Every opportunity this dog got to be with Julie and Brandon's goats, he took it!!!
Say Goodbye Dingo!
We got on the road after breakfast and let me tell you... this was a ROUGH travel day.
We kept getting re-routed with our GPS because of flooding along the I-29 corridor at the Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri borders.
By evening, every one was tired and hungry.
We finally stop to eat at this place called Pizza Ranch. Sean sends me inside to order the pizza and I get a large pepperoni with some bread sticks to go.
Sean meets me inside and I tell him that I've ordered the pizza to go, but then he sees the buffet and says I should have ordered that. I go back to the counter and ask the pimply faced teenager if he can cancel my order and just charge me for the buffet. He says sure.
This costs twice as much (they charged me an adult price for Autumn!).
Sean and I grab our first bites of food, but Autumn and Millie are not having it.
Autumn says the food looks disgusting. It's a joke in our family, but Autumn has virtually been the disgusting expert since she was about 6 months old!
Anyway, I secretly am totally agreeing with her. The buffet is wrecked out, I even saw a spatula with the part everyone touches laying across the pizza. It smells bad in here, but I'm not caring about any of this. I need food and I know that once I eat, I will be fine. Can we convince the girls to eat? NO!
I am still dealing with chemo drip from my nose, so I ask Autumn for a napkin and she throws it at me. That's it. I might kill you. I tell her to come with me to the bathroom where I had every intention of spanking her.
We get to the bathroom and she explains to me that she cannot bring herself to eat the food, but that she'll quit with the attitude, so I send her out to Sean and Millie. I stay behind and use the bathroom.
When I get back to the table, Sean looks like he could kill someone and both the girls are crying. I was in the bathroom all of 2 minutes. I finally have had enough and just walk out of the restaurant.
We spent about 12 hours in the car, it was TOO much! Let's not make this mistake again!!!
We finally get to our hotel and the girls enjoy a good swim at the pool.
We make the smart decision that we shouldn't drive that many hours again and no skipping meals.
I have a heart to heart with the girls that along the way, we may or may not have to deal with some questionable restaurants and they are going to have to suck it up and deal.
Miles driven from Fredericktown, MO to Sioux City, IA = 600. Total miles driven: 1,187.
