Lowell Point to Tonsina Point- a hike and kayak.
Wednesday morning of camping, we had beautiful weather.
We headed into Seward (25 minute drive from the campground) and stopped at the Lighthouse Bakery and Cafe.
Three of us ordered breakfast (Autumn and I had a hot breakfast) and it was about $20.
The kids menu was $5 and a decent menu.
I would eat there again.
We walked down to the docks to look around.
Gorgeous day out.
Saw an otter.
You, you otter know.
Looking out towards Lowell Point from the parking lot.
A two minute walk to the beach.
The tide is really high compared to the last time we were here.
Last time we could do some more tide pooling in this location.
Sean carrying MY kayak to the water.
Man, I'm so jealous....
Off he goes.
He ended up doing a 14 mile paddle round trip from Lowell point to Caine's Head.
Out on Lowell Point beach, I saw a fisherman catch a salmon.
He was so excited!
The girls and I made our way to the trail and shortly after getting going, we saw the ripe berries.
Salmon berries.
Right before the uphill turn towards Tonsina Point.
This is my favorite place.
It is among the steep cliffs portion of the trail and one should exercise caution when exploring this area.
Lots of mushrooms.
More mushrooms.
I haven't worked out yet what this flower is.
At the bridge.
There were salmon beneath us!
Millie wanted a picture.
Trying to get the picture of the salmon, but like me, they hate school pictures!
Another bad shot.
They were so skittish.
After the bridge, there is a small walk through the forest.
There is a picnic area complete with benches.
It leads to this view.
More fungi.
Tonsina Point.
Me and my dead trees.
Jesus loves you.
Another Autumn picture of Millie.
Dingo pouting because I wouldn't let him off the leash.
We know what happens to Dingo and salt water!
A glacier across the way from Tonsina Point.
Me.
Me and the girls.
I'm always surprised when Autumn lets me take her picture!
A nod to Kate and Leo.
I'm a drab little crab.
Fireweed.
Wondering if Sean is lost in the mist.
A girl and her dog!
Taking a rest!
On my throne!
We had some time to kill here.
We explored the beach for about an hour and a half.
Autumn staying in touch with her vampire roots.
Holding up the mountains.
Jumping pictures!
My turn.
Jordans.
We kept seeing jellyfish all over the beach.
I was taking pictures of this one when Autumn called out to me and said:
Look at this one!
iNaturalist tells me this is a Lion's Mane Jellyfish.
They have nematacyst and WILL sting you, but it usually isn't fatal.
Again, with the mushrooms.
Another view.
Bridge over no water.
We spotted this squirrel and realized right away something was wrong with it.
It was not running off away from us.
It let us get really close.
Autumn wanted to help it.
He was really cute, but very sick.
I believe he is infested with ticks.
We stopped by to take a quick look at exit glacier.
Dingo reading the information about the glacier.
Sean took a video while out on the water:
And a few pictures:
Man, I would have killed to be in my boat and have this view!
