We've been busy!
Thursday started off pretty depressing.
It was snowing. It is the end of April already, we are still trying to melt off snow. We are just ready for it to go away!
Autumn laid in the window watching the snow come down.
I decided if it was going to snow, I was at least going to have some chocolate ice cream and some Oreo cookies.
It started off rain, turned over to snow, but fortunately,
by the time Sean got home, the sun started to shine and all the snow that fell quickly melted away.
Autumn and I did some indoor activities. I had no idea when I picked that summery top out for her that there would be snow that day. I guess in our hearts, we are just ready for spring.
Sean and Autumn had some important things to do.
Autumn really enjoys flying!
We worked on stuff for Emelia's room:
Painting the letters. That color is called sweet pea and I just love it.
This was Autumn's art project! She worked on it at the gym daycare. We sure are going to miss Miss Thea and Miss Kim during the summer.
Painting.
Autumn's very helpful.
I'm going to put this on Emelia's dresser.
This is what the crib looks like now.
We still have some decorating to get done in the room, but I've got the bed put together, all the laundry washed. I know where I want the furniture. Now we just need to get things put up on the walls.
Organization.
All this work in Emelia's room has got me thinking. Dear Emelia, please be tough. Your sister is going to love you, but it could be questionable at times.
Autumn gets weird ideas sometimes. I'm not really sure why she feels the need to lay down ON TOP of her baby doll and shove a stick (that looks like a straw) down her baby's throat, but she was pretty intent on doing it.
Interesting. Poor Emelia......
Another ray of sunshine on Thursday, we received a box from Aunt Julie filled with all sorts of goody's. Autumn got a couple of outfits that she loved and thought were pretty. I got a box of chocolates, Sean got some coffee and Emelia got some new clothes. Julie also sent some stuffed pineapples, one for both girls, that Autumn quickly claimed as her own and refers to them as "puppies."
Thank you Aunt Julie!
On to Friday! It was sunny Friday (at times) and just a little bit chilly. We decided to have a picnic on our back porch.
Autumn got all excited, I turned to look and see what she was excited about.
Meet Izzy the dog, the Great Dane that lives next door. Autumn loves this dog and she really is a sweet puppy.
Izzy's head is bigger than almost all of Autumn!
I'm pretty sure she could just jump our fence and come over for a visit if she wanted too, but she hasn't ever done that.
This weekend, we had a gorgeous day on Saturday. The sun was shining full blast, Sean and I both did some work in the yard. I fixed up my strawberry bed while Sean:
Took care of snow removal! Sean is determined to get our yard back before all of our neighbors and quite frankly, he has done a great job at removing the snow!
From certain angles, it looks like we have no snow in our yard and it looks like summer right?
You can see there is still some work to do and the yard is pretty wet, but Autumn didn't seem to mind. She had a great time!
Sean wouldn't be Sean if he didn't build Autumn a ramp made of snow.
Autumn absolutely loved this!
A mix of snow and grass.
Of course, this gave Sean grand ideas for next winter.... building a ramp that goes over the fence. I have to say, it did look like a lot of fun!
Look at that face!
This is why little girls need their dads! I would have never thought to build a ramp and send her down it on the sled.
Autumn mid jump, excited to go down the ramp again!
Then Sean got the great idea to add an extra bump:
Hard not to laugh.
When she hit that second bump, a bunch of snow shot back at her.
Which led to crying, she is still a girl after all!! We fixed it all though with a great big:
SNOW BALL FIGHT!
RETREAT!
Autumn, MOVE!
Just wanted to show you proof that snowball didn't hit her, it landed just in front of her.
I'm not sure who had more fun, Sean or Autumn.
All that wonderful weather prompted Sean to put on some shorts, fire up the grill and make us all some bison burgers.
Burgers and fries on a sunny Alaskan afternoon.
Autumn had her very own burger too. Unfortunately, it was a bit spicy, she really only ate the fries.
I guess the sunny weather had to come to an end eventually. On Sunday, we were back to drab, gray and cloudy Alaska. Oddly enough, it was about 40 degrees (only a little cooler than the day before), but it felt much colder for some reason. We headed out to Eagle River. Sean was meeting up with Sergeant Totten and Autumn and I planned to walk around the Nature Center.
Autumn started off with a fleece coat and her jacket. We made quick work of the trail down to the viewing decks.
And boy, what a view!
I liked this picture a lot because of the reflection off the water.
She looks so little with those mountains as a back drop.
A photo op.
Autumn walked around the viewing deck, back to our backpack (yes, I carried Autumn in the backpack), she apparently needed her kitty cat!
Best friends.
We stopped to eat. It was a gorgeous view, just wish it had been sunny. After eating, we did some more walking (still waiting for Sean and Totten).
Autumn picked up a walking stick. We both got warm and offed our shells and went with just fleece jackets the rest of the afternoon.
There really is a lot more to say about what Totten was doing out there in Eagle River, but I think I will save it for next time. This post is getting long!
We had a wonderful Alaskan weekend and I'm really looking forward to this summer and the addition of Emelia to our family. Please enjoy all the pictures! Until next time!
