As promised, a video of Autumn "walking". At most, Autumn can take four steps, but she is improving all the time. It was 22 below zero today out here. Autumn and I spent the morning at the gym. I worked out, then Autumn played. We had a good time, but we are looking forward to warmer weather (one day). Anyway, here is the video.

Trail River Campground

Sean and I spotted Trail River Campground back in April on a trip down to Seward. I was excited to go back when the lake was not frozen. We reserved a tent site online and based on the online system, it looked like the campground was really full. When we arrived, there were lots of reserved signs, but on closer inspection, some of the reserved signs were for dates that had passed or in the future. There were many spots available. Anyway, we met the campground host and he informed us that he and his wife were bleaching ALL the bathrooms every day. These were the cleanest campground bathrooms I have ever seen. The cost for tent sites is $18 per day. There is a two week limit. Dogs are allowed and I found this to be a very dog friendly place. If I had to complain about anything it would be that it was kind of noisy. I wasn't sure at first if it was the river or if it was car traffic noise I was hearing. Day Care

Everyday that Autumn and I go to the gym, Autumn goes to day care. We love the daycare. Miss Thea and Miss Kim are so great to all the kids and the stuff that Autumn gets to do that she might not otherwise. For an hour 4 or 5 days a week, I just love it. Autumn's activity for today was play doh. This is a big favorite with Autumn. Please open this. Finally! Pounding the doh. Autumn made us something at daycare this week: It has to be my favorite thing that Autumn has made! Another view. Autumn and I are going to church tonight and I'm really excited. The first few chapters of our study guide that I have read have been so interesting, I cannot wait to discuss it this evening. It is so warm outside (31 degrees) that I'm half tempted to go for a walk with Autumn. My back is hurting though, maybe we will just walk around our neighborhood and play in the snow or something. Prince William Sound Day 4 ~ Mallard Bay Tide Pooling

 From the sailing log: "Variable winds 5 kts or less. Mostly cloudy. Seas around 2 ft. Raised anchor at 0940. Heading to Squire Island. Sailing unlikely. We motored out of Mallard Bay, but quickly realized there was enough wind to sail. After the sails were raised, I pinched the wind trying to avoid an island. I lost the wind, Ulu was stopped and I had no control. Sean turned the boat around, we regained control and then went back into the small passage area to Squire Island. Anchored in Squire Island Cove at 50 feet. I did a terrible job anchoring too. The wind was behind me and it just felt backwards."  We woke at 0630 and headed to shore for tide pooling. We had 3 or 4 seals very curious about what we were doing, but also, very shy. Although it is called Mallard Bay, this Harlequin Duck is the only duck I saw.
