Autumn's one year check up.
Autumn had her one year check up yesterday. The appointment went as expected (for the most part). There was lots of crying involved (the Dr only need look in Autumn's direction to get the tears rolling). So here it is, Autumn weighed 21 pounds 2 ounces (50th percentile) and was 29 inches tall (50th percentile). We are still waiting on teeth and the Doctor did seemed surprised that Autumn did not have ANY at all. She said that if Autumn did not pop a tooth by 15 months, they would do an x-ray and make sure she has teeth. The doctor said she thinks she will cut a bottom tooth here shortly.
So, as many of you know, we are trying to wean Autumn from breast milk. There are many reasons for this, but first and foremost, I feel it is time. When I tried to discuss this with the doctor, it was in the spirit of needing information and guidance and what I was met with was condemnation. She asked me why I was weaning and I told her that I was ready to. She then said, "So, YOU are ready to." I was somewhat offended by her statement and in a rare moment for me, I said nothing.
Autumn is doing better with cow milk now that we have added chocolate to it. We are going to be cutting out the second nursing session next week. Hopefully that will go well. If successful, we will be down to nursing three times per day.
Anyway, Autumn is a perfectly healthy little girl and that is what is going on with us.
PS We miss you Cindy. Cannot wait to see you next week! Hang in there!
