I should have known

it was only a dream, but it felt so real. If you closed your eyes, you would know exactly where we are based on smell alone, but as I open my eyes, I see the twinkling of Christmas lights hung from the rafters of a great big barn. There was a band up front playing some country tune, upbeat, and plenty of people on the wooden floor dancing to their hearts content. I wasn't sure why we were there and I did think it a little strange. The air was warm and humid, we had to be somewhere in the South. The band finishes up a song and without thinking, you place your hand on the small of my back and lead me where you want me to go. Once we get to the dance floor, I slide my hand along your waist, you grab my other hand gently, yet strongly and as easy as one, two, three we begin to slow dance. They were playing, "Sissy's Song." My heart grows sad, yet at the same time I feel enveloped by your strength and love. I feel safe in your arms. Nothing could ever harm us or come between us. Suddenly we are the only ones on the dance floor and I think how I never want this moment to end.

Then, I am awake. Good morning Tuesday.
