Party of Three! Your table is ready.
Sean and I have been waiting for a rainy day to take Autumn to the H2Oasis. It is this huge indoor water park here in Alaska. Thankfully, Cindy/Travis/Dylan came home on Saturday and with that, ended our sunny 80 degree weather. We woke up to clouds and rain, so we packed up a lunch (which we found out after we got there, no outside food, but we ate our food like criminals anyway!!) and headed over.
It was difficult to get a good photo. The camera lens kept fogging up. This was the best I could get.
After like four hours of Autumn working out her OCD by going down the same slide repeatedly, I told Sean I was ready to go home! We all took a nice family nap and when we woke up, it was time to educate Autumn about rock n' roll. I'm not talking about that sissy boy band crap they put out on the radio now, Autumn was rocking to some Jimi Hendrix, Motley Crue, and Alice in Chains. Autumn has great taste in music. She loves to dance to Jimi's Foxy Lady and Voo Doo Child. It cracks me up. Sean calls her dance moves busted, I suppose I should take a video of it so that we can always remember it.
Sean made us a lovely dinner, braised short ribs over couscous with grilled zucchini. It was delicious. Autumn enjoyed her dinner as well.
Awesome Autumn.
Party of 3, your table is ready!!
Update on Autumn's word repertoire: We can add Cheese, Up, No way, Oh no, Oh yeah. Also, Autumn is cutting teeth #5 and 6!!
Now on to something more serious. I have been thinking a lot about the up coming deployment. It is rapidly approaching. I question how I will manage to stand strong while I see Autumn cry for her Daddy not to go. She does this every day when he leaves for work, grabs his keys or just starts walking towards the door. It makes my heart sad to think about all the things Sean will miss while he is gone. Then there are the things we are not supposed to talk about, but that in the depth of our hearts, is always on our mind. I cannot even bring myself to type the words, but the thought, the fear is there. I try to push it from my mind, but as deployment gets closer, it keeps me up at night.
The best we can do is enjoy what time we have left. No getting upset over minor things, why waste anytime with that stuff? In the long run, does it matter if the dishes sit in the sink tonight if it means I can spend another hour with you? For the record, I could never sleep with dishes in the sink!!! But you get what I'm saying don't you? Really, these are things I should work on all the time and not when you are getting ready to leave, but I suppose these things are just glaring me down right now. I know you are busy too Sean, so please do not forget to stop and say what you need to say when it strikes you to say it.
What strikes me to say to you this evening is this: Thank you for taking care of me all the time (even when you'd rather do something different or when I'm grouchy). Thank you for taking care of the log ride(s) Autumn took in my bathtub. Thank you for cooking me totally awesome food, managing the cats, the garbage, and the bills. I don't need to thank you for the way you love Autumn, but I'm so glad I get the chance to see your love in action when it comes to her. You have no idea how it makes my heart smile to see Autumn's whole face light up at just the sight of you or the way you make her laugh.
So, I suppose I should follow my own advice and get off of here and go spend some more time with you tonight.
Your Favorite Wife and Airman. XOXO
