The good, the bad and the ugly.
Dinner = the good.
You ever had Carne Bistec? Me either, but it turns out it is good, easy and cheap! The perfect trifecta. The girls ate some of it too, but I set their steak out before adding it to the onions and tomatoes. I think I could have eaten the entire batch myself, but that wouldn't help me with my weight loss/fitness goals now would it?
The hardest part of making this meal was cleaning the cast iron skillet. I only say that because Sean has all these rules associated with his skillet. You cannot use soap on it, you have to use a brush and water, you have to dry it immediately, blah, blah, blah. The cast iron skillet alone is a workout if you ask me!
Death = the bad.
Sean's cousin, Nathan, died two days ago. Apparently he had surgery a few weeks ago and then he threw a clot which caused a pulmonary event. He was 38 years old. His funeral will be this Friday. Nathan was someone I met at Grandpa Frank's funeral many years ago. In my own words, he was a funny, smart, optimistic guy. I cannot believe he is gone. Jim and Phyllis headed up to Indiana to visit with the family and attend the funeral. I've thought long and hard on it and decided that since Sean cannot go, it wouldn't be good for me to take the girls. I don't think they are ready for this subject matter. I know that I for one, will miss Nathan. I plan to pay my respects to his family sometime this summer.
Now on to the ugly!
Sean, laying in Autumn's bed, watching a movie WHILST eating Doritos's! Fired, fired, fired! I've recently fired Sean from putting Autumn to bed because for some reason he is really bad at it! We discussed it and figured out why he has so many issues with Miss Autumn at bed time.
Let me give you a run down.
CHERISH: Autumn it is time for bed. "Mom, can I please......" No! You can do that in the morning. "BUT....." No.
SEAN: Autumn, do you need anything else?
At which point Autumn runs Sean all over the house for the next 20 minutes and then demands that he climbs in bed with her. FIRED!
Pig pile on daddy!
What have we been up to? Well, I'll tell you....
Again, with the working out!
I have put in 14 miles since Sunday. Autumn has put in 4 or 5 miles.
We visited the scariest slide in America (at Callaway Gardens). I was certain Emelia was going to fall off that slide and break something. I mean at one point, the entire lower half of her body was over the side of the slide, yet she was still somehow coming down the slide. At the end, she nearly hit her face every single time, but thankfully, she managed!
We've been up a tree!
Up a tree!
And Autumn has been taking pictures of her dad smiling.
There has been spinning in the sun.
As well as spinning in the rain.
Autumn having a blast playing in the rain and apparently Emelia has had enough of Georgia, packed her suitcase and is heading back to Alaska, where life makes sense.
I'm thankful that my children had the opportunity to play, sing and dance in the rain. It was thoroughly entertaining.
Until next time.
The Jordan's.
