N is for
Nook.
It is also for No Way! As in, Autumn, NO WAY can you take my Nook to show and tell today.
It is "N" week at Autumn's school. She did bring her Princess Notebook for show and tell, but she did ask to take my Nook.
After dropping Autumn off at school,
I did a short run today. Just 4 miles. I don't know what it is about my five fingers, but these old hens down here give me dirty looks when they see my shoes. They are seriously disgusted by them. Their reaction alone is enough to make me want to wear them everywhere, all the time!
Near the turn around point. I guess I'll need to slow down a bit. Hardee har har.
The last half mile I took Millie out so she could walk around.
Life would be perfect if she could push me instead.
She is such a happy girl, unless we are at church and I've tried to put her in the nursery. They gave me a nifty little pager because I was feeling a little nervous to leave her there and sure enough, not more than 15 minutes later that thing was going off. I had to excuse myself from a very gripping seminar on finances to rush to Miss Millie's aid. She was so distraught she could barely catch her breath. She dove into my arms before I was really close enough to get a good hold on her. It took me at least ten or fifteen minutes to calm her down.
Worse part of this scenario is there was a very interesting verse up on the screen about being rich or poor and I think I have it all screwed up. I thought it said something like "The man who loves pleasure is poor, but the man who loves food and wine is rich." Maybe my mind made that up because, well, I love food and wine! I have no idea what book that was even in so researching it might prove difficult. Anyway, church was a little overwhelming, people greeting and introducing themselves, but I enjoyed it. Autumn had a blast! While we were sitting down eating, she told me:
Autumn: Mom, I was just thinking about something.
Cherish: Oh yeah? What were you thinking about Autumn?
Autumn: My friend Owen (a classmate), he is so cute.
Cherish: Oh my goodness, I'm glad your dad didn't hear that!
A few minutes later, Owen walks right on by. He goes to that church too! He showed Autumn all around and they were holding hands and just having a blast.
OK, so back on today.
While Millie was walking, we took a moment to look at the clovers. Which Millie will say, but no, she will NOT touch. They freaked her out. I guess old habits die hard and maybe, just maybe that girl will be afraid of plant life for the rest of her life.
We picked Autumn up from school and grabbed a movie out of the red box. We are expecting some nasty weather this evening, so we are staying in the rest of the night. Autumn made something for us at school though.
Not sure exactly what it is, but those circles are snow flakes. I'm thinking we have a little girl who misses the snow.
Autumn has been working on her name too. Over the last week or so I've been working with her trying to teach her how to spell it. She gets what all of our names start with, but today was the first time she could tell me the letters in her name. Then she wanted to know why there were two u's in her name!
The girl says Hi Dad.
I got something in the mail today:
A Nook cover! Made for me, by my good friend Angie at Sew What?!?
The inside. Yes, that is a picture of Autumn and me with Snowzilla.
Our sweet girl wanted her picture too.
While sitting here writing you this letter, Autumn passed out in the floor.
Millie petted her, kissed her and then covered her with her blanket. You know, the white one with blue flowers? The one she has had all her life, but describes to us in great detail when she cannot find it!
I love you. Wish you were coming home today.
