Price William Sound Day 1 ~ Seward Boat Harbor to Sunny Cove

We planned a trip to Prince William Sound two years ago, but the weather did not cooperate last year, so we pushed the trip to this year. We were fortunate for a few days of sunny weather and a few days of great sailing weather.

We learned a lot and now I have dreams for new places to sail.

From the sailing log:

"01 July 2024 ~ SSE wind 5 to 10 kt. Rain likely. Seas around 2 ft. Left Seward Boat Harbor at 1100. Sails up at 1130. Sails down at 4:30 PM. Anchored in Sunny Cove at 92 feet. 15 nm."

Before we set sail, we had to move the cars to the far lot, for several reasons. The fourth of July fireworks had the lot nearest Ulu closed down on July 3rd, but that lot is a 3 day max parking lot. The only lot you can park in for an extended period of time (2 weeks) is the lot nearest the Coast Guard Station. It is a good little walk.

We arrived in Sunny Cove around 5 PM.

We saw otters and a ton of Humpback whales near Hive Island.

We had so much rain.

Everything is so wet.

On one of the tacks, the water of the Genoa slapped me in the face.

Sean made beef stroganoff for dinner. It was really good and needed after a day in the wet rain.
