Prince William Sound Day 3 ~ Auk Bay to Port Bainbridge Passage.

From the sailing log: : "03 July 2024 Variable winds 5 kts or less. Mostly sunny. Seas 1 to 2 feet. We motored from Auk Cove through Port Bainbridge Passage. We left about 0630 in order to hit the flood tide by 8 AM. With the main sail up and motoring, we hit over 8 kts through the passage. We raised the Genoa, but there was not enough wind to sustain. Motored through Nassau Fjor. After we got done at the Fjord and past all the ice, we sailed on a beam reach for about two hours. 4 nm shy of Port Audrey, we motored again. Anchored at Port Audrey in 50 ft. Motored to Mallard Bay and anchored in 51.5 feet."

I could hardly believe my eyes when I stepped outside and saw the sunrise.

Boat hair can be challenging.

Thank goodness for hats!

Auk Bay from Ulu. It really is a pretty anchorage.

On our way to make the Port Bainbridge Passage, we saw floating ice. It was mostly a long the shores, but we were keeping a watchful eye out.

The entry to the passage way.

Dingo keeping watch.

This part of the trip really felt like we were on a river and not on the ocean.

It was actually quite a peaceful part of the trip.

After making it through the passage, we did try to sail, but there was not enough wind.

Next up is Icy Bay, Nassau Fjord and Mallard Bay.
