Bear Attack Part 2
I thought I had accounted for all the bear damage, but I was incorrect.
Sean's Thermarest- the bear clawed it up. Now it is in the garbage.
I know you are thinking right about now, what on earth is this picture trying to show me. You see those two little keys next to the soap? I thought it was weird that they were there, so I asked Sean. "What on earth are these keys doing here?" His response, "they were in the door of the Jeep." You know what that means don't you? That means they were buried deep under bear scat. Yuck, and now they are.................... ON MY SINK............. IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously?
I also reported that during the bear attack on the Jeep, Sean was not injured, but I was incorrect. Brace yourself now.
Whilst cleaning out the Jeep, Sean suffered major damage to his finger. I hope he doesn't need stitches or anything!
We go on Monday to get the damage assessed by Geico and a local auto body shop. I'm guesstimating the damage to be at least $3k. Believe it or not, the insurance will cover the damage (under our comprehensive damage) and we will just need to pay the deductible. I thought we had accounted for all the damage to the Jeep, but it turns out when the bear climbed on the hood of the Jeep, he tore up the paint. I'm not sure how much damage the bear racked up.
Moving right along to some pictures of something much nearer and dearer to my heart.
Autumnerella.
Singing in the rain.
Little girl in a big umbrella.
Autumn is such a genius.
Evil grin.
I believe we are going to have to talk about food for a moment. There was A LOT of cooking going on in my house today.
Beginning with:
Brownies. That shiny stuff on top- caramel.
Getting ready to cut it.
My slice.
Sean had to have his a la mode.
Not only did we make brownies (for dessert after dinner), but I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow.
We will put those guys in the fridge tonight and in the morning, bake them and frost them with a maple frosting. Man, I am going to need to run a marathon just to recover from tonight and tomorrow!
The rest went into the freezer. We are saving them for when Grandma and Grandpa Jordan come to visit us in August!
Now, while trying to take all my food pictures, out of the corner of my eye I see Autumn doing something.
Yep! She was stealing the cheese!
And was oh so proud to do it!
For dinner we had beef tenderloin. This is the steak with the seasonings on it waiting to go into the oven. Something exciting that happened today, we finally got a meat thermometer! You know the kind that can go in the meat and then in the oven. No more opening the oven door, taking the dish out, poking it like four hundred times to find out if it is done!!! Yay!
The final product- Beef tenderloin with port reduction sauce, served with thrice baked potatoes and spinach salad. It was delicious!
Autumn's dinner.
I'm not really sure why, but Autumn's favorite place to hang out is on her dad's shoulders.
Yes, even for meals. WOW!
Those two are so silly!
Emelia and her half smile!
Really lady, can you get that thing out of my face and pick me up already?
So what else is going on with us? We got our:
Tent from Cabela's in the mail yesterday!!!! How exciting! As I type this, Sean and Autumn are outside sleeping in it, testing it out.
They should be nice, cozy and comfortable between the 4 season durability of the tent and Sean's cots. Row looks very comfy!
A cot for the both of them.
Emelia is going to sleep in the tent too, but in her swing of course! Oh, just kidding, Emelia and I will be sleeping in the house. Once I get a report from Sean and Autumn on the "warmness" of our tent, we will plan our first real camping trip this year.
Autumn talking to and looking at Sean.
Sean looking thrilled to take another picture.
We had to make sure to wear Autumn out before putting her in the tent to sleep. It isn't getting dark here until like midnight! So:
Autumn told Sean, "up there." Which in Autumn/Sean world means:
Toss a girl up.
Drop her down low.
Autumn's next favorite person:
Izzy the dog. Autumn was hollering, "come here."
A rare shot of Mr Penelope.
Izzy and Mr Penelope are best friends. NOT!
Tomorrow we will go for a hike down in Girdwood- hopefully get some good pictures. We were supposed to do that today, but we just got too caught up in the day for it. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
