Success!
Today was a busy day! First thing this morning Emelia had her two week check up. This is the only picture I got of her this morning (thus beginning the trend of neglecting your second born):
You cannot even see her super cute outfit (and now she is in PJ's). You see that look of concern on her face? She wears that a lot. I remember telling Sean while pregnant with Emelia that I thought Emelia worried a lot. Whenever Autumn would make a lot of noise near us, Emelia would start freaking out. I am hoping that this is just a silly look, and that she really isn't a worry wart.
So on to the appointment. Sean and I split up. I took Emelia to the doctor, Sean took Autumn and went grocery shopping for some fresh basil. At the appointment, Emelia measured in at 22 inches long (95th percentile), 9 pounds 14 ounces (90th percentile) and her head measured 14.5 inches. Just to remind you, she was born 21 inches, 8 pounds 10 ounces and 14 inches for her head. She has gained just over a pound in two weeks. I'm told this is very good for a breast fed baby.
After our appointment, Sean headed to work. UH OH that left me with both girls for the rest of the day. I decided to venture out and go to McDonald's (I mean not my favorite place, but Autumn would be contained). Getting both girls and ALL their accessories in and out of the car was a little bit trying, but we managed! We ate lunch, we played, we came home and we all napped! It was heavenly.
About a half hour before Sean got home, I put on a pot of boiling water, donned my workout clothes- did a little bit of Pilates (not much, only made it about 8 or 9 minutes) and as soon as Sean walked in the door, I put on my GPS and went for a run/jog/walk. I ran 1.7 miles maintaining an average speed of 5.5 miles an hour. Max speed of 8 miles an hour. Not bad for my first day back to exercise and 15 days postpartum!
While I was out running, Sean made spinach and cheese ravioli with a Pesto sauce (we bought the ravioli pre-made from Costco), Sean made the Pesto. It was a great meal idea because the thing that took the longest was boiling the water. Sean and I made a great team today. The girls are still alive, I got some me time and in my book that is a huge success!
So let me not forget! I've cut chocolate out of my diet which of course leads to terrible cravings for it. Through a mutual blogger, I discovered this totally awesome website: The Pioneer Woman Cooks. After browsing through her website, I found these: Chocolate Truffles with Sea Salt. Drooling!
I made them! Mine are not nearly as beautiful as Mrs Drummond's, but they are mine and I don't require perfection, just chocolate!
My question to you- how on earth am I supposed to lose any weight if I keep eating like this????
Those guys are very rich and will probably be in my house for the next few weeks. I am hoping to satisfy my chocolate cravings without overdoing it!
So overall, today was a total success. Being the mom to two delightful girls isn't so bad. Stay tuned, who knows what tomorrow will bring!
