Gold Star.
I was kind of mad at Sean, so I went for a solo hike.
I decided on Gold Star.
I parked on Eklutna Lake Road at a pull off and then had to walk back to find the trail.
It's not very noticeable.
I think of how many times I have been down this road and have never even noticed it.
It is near a light pole 85.
Anyway, I finally found it and let me tell you, it was immediately up!
At 0.5 miles I had ascended 795 ft.
1.0 mile = 1,690 ft.
There is a cairn at 1.3 miles and 2,085 feet.
The top, 1.83 miles and 2,829 feet of ascent to a max elevation of 4,227 feet!
On the way back down, I bumped into Sean!
We hit a snow patch and I fell.
I accidentally glissade down.
Sean decided he was going to go that way down too.
He got in front of me, but by the end, I was going so fast, I slid right into him!
I am kicking myself a bit because I was so close to Mt POW/MIA.
I could have bagged two summits in one climb, but it looked a bit sketch to me and I was by myself.
Anyway, here are my photos.
Enjoy!
