Major decisions.
When I woke up this morning, I had no idea that today would be the day I made a major life decision.
Just a few weeks ago I decided I was going back to school.
As summer is rapidly approaching, I found myself running into several hurdles.
Nothing major; nothing but minor setbacks, but discouraging in a way to say the least.
I was supposed to go running this morning.
THEN, I was supposed to go to Columbus Technical College.
When I told Sean I was debating on which order to do things, he told me to go to CTC.
I grabbed my folder I have set aside with my high school diploma, my CCAF, all 7 of my transcripts.
I pop in the car and I'm on my way.
Sean and I were talking over things and something he said a few weeks ago, had been popping up in my mind over and over.
The light bulb really did not go off until today.
Since I was in middle school, I've wanted to study marine biology.
When I got out of the Air Force, we lived in Killeen, Texas.
That is sort of in the center of the state.
Guess how many marine biology programs they had?
Not many.
SO I studied Biotechnology laboratory science. I enjoyed it.
We moved.
We had kids.
WE moved again.
I start looking into marine biology again here in Columbus, GA.
Guess what?
No one offers it.
My second choice was pharmacy tech.
Sean and I have discussed this at length.
Did you know you do not have to have any sort of college education to do that job?
Shocked?
I was.
You do have to be certified, but if you can take and pass the certification, it doesn't matter what school you went to.
Not really.
My GI Bill is good until April 2019.
This is what I've decided.
I'm going to buy a book and study for the national certification for pharmacology.
I'm going to take the test.
If I can get certified,
I'm going to try and get a job here in Columbus, GA.
I'm going to dip my toes in the water and see what I think about it.
When Sean retires in 2017,
We will move to WA State where I can study Marine biology and then find a job in that field.
I'm also going to try to find an internship at Oxbow meadows.
Maybe I can volunteer for a week or two over the summer at Tybee Island (next summer, when you are home).
Before I even made it to CTC, sitting at a stop light, all these decisions were made.
There you have it.
Instead of running or going to school, I promptly went to Starbucks to celebrate our decisions today.
I bought Millie a compound bow and arrow for her birthday.
A nerf gun too.
I picked up a few odds and ends for her birthday party.
Chocolate candy seashell molds.
These are going to go on her beach cake.
Millie loves them. She is calling them her collection.
I got the grass mowed this evening.
I finally fed those girls some steak.
Once they are in bed, I'm going to try and get at least two miles in.
It was HOT today.
Tomorrow, while Autumn is in school, I'm going to work on the fence some more.
I don't think I'll finish it or anything, but I'm going to do one hour intervals of it.
We shall see how far I get.
OK, that is all I have for you this evening.
Your current wife and favorite airman. xoxo
