I told Autumn just a little bit about Grandma Betty. I told her that she has cancer. She is very old. She is currently in the hospital. That Grandma Phyllis is really sad about it so we need to pray for her. Autumn said, OK. Several minutes later. Autumn: Grandma Betty has cancer? Me: Yes. Autumn: Is she going to die? Me: Yes. Autumn: I love Grandma Betty and I do not want her to die. Me: The most we can do right now Autumn is to pray for Grandma Phyllis and Grandma Betty. She will go home to heaven and everything will be OK. Autumn: OK mom. I will pray for Grandma Betty and Grandma Phyllis. Your mom is leaving tomorrow to go back up there. I'm not sure how long she will stay. I had a feeling that this would be the case. I'm feeling confident she will stay there until it happens. We dropped Max the Fish off to Alison. We are packed up for our trip tomorrow. We will leave in the morning after we load up the car. I'm so tired. I...

Callaway Days

Image
This is a picture of my perfect tomatoes... before the birds got to them. I'm so mad. What is the point of these dumb cats if they let whatever creature they want in to our yard!!!!!!! This morning, we loaded up the Jeep, loaded up lunch and headed to Callaway. We parked at the Discovery center because for some reason, I could not figure out how to get over to the boat house. DOH! It actually turned out to be a great little spot that was well shaded and we were pretty central to all the places we wanted to go. The rule enforcer made me get off my bike to cross this bridge. Our first stop was to find out what time the birds of prey show would be. Next.. The "cultural" center, as Autumn calls it. Photobomber!!! It is hard to believe there is three years between them. Seals. I think this thing was a dog. If you look closely, it has eyes. Uncle Julie. I mustache you a question. Next up was the butterfly center. Autumn the butte...

The quiet.

Image
The girls have been playing without incident. They went to bed last night and slept well. Autumn awoke at her normal time and woke Katie up. They sat on the couch and watched cartoons, ate breakfast and Katie remarks, "It is so quiet here." I'm guessing that with a family of 7 living at her house, quiet is a luxury. I'm grateful that I can provide this refuge for her every summer. The house seems odd without Millie in it. It is really, the quiet. The kind of quiet that can break your heart. I spoke to Millie on the phone today. She told me that she had to show Grandma how to do her glasses. I'm grateful that she is equip enough to handle herself. After church this morning, we went out to lunch at IHOP. Autumn sat with me and Katie across from us. We were carrying on a normal level decibel conversation when some old geezer behind us, turned around and shushed Autumn. I was this close to flipping out. It immediately angered me bec...

Off she goes.

Millie was so excited about getting to go to Grandma's. This is how many shoes she thought she needed. "I need running shoes, in case I run. Walking shoes if we walk. Slippers for sleeping. Boots for in case I wear my cowgirl outfit." Millie, your dad would pitch a fit about this many shoes!! We drove to Statesboro and stopped into Walmart. I wanted to send Millie with sunscreen. We had lunch and the kids played. We said our goodbyes and I had a talk with Millie about behaving and what to do if she needed me. She almost left without even saying goodbye. Autumn, Katie and I started home. We stopped into Lane's for peaches. We made it home about 445 pm. The girls have played, played and played. Beauty salon. We are headed to bed shortly. Church in the morning. I sent you an email, so check that please. I love you. I miss you. Your current wife and favorite airman. XOXO 82

I started the car once.

I'm meeting my mom in Statesboro tomorrow, so I cleaned out the car today. Inside and out. It was raining, but I washed it anyway. It was the only time I "left" the house today. It started off really hot. Anthony came over and played too. The girls ate lunch beneath the tree. We came in, showered and bathed. It started raining without warning. I think the yard really is looking better. Your current wife and favorite airman. XOXO 81

Another day.

Image
This morning was spent at the pool. We were with two other military families. The girl throwing Autumn, their family is moving to Germany. Color me jealous. No lie. I would love an overseas assignment. Anyway. We swam until two pm or so. Being out in the sun made me tired. I wanted to nap, but I cut the grass and did some edging. Then ran to Sam's. I took your pregnant ex-girlfriend her meal. I was somewhat shocked by their home. I also learned that they are moving to Garrett Pines. They are renting a house over there for the next 3-5 years. Lovely. After leaving there, I mowed the backyard. Prepared our dinner. After eating, Anthony and Matthew came to play. Anthony is coming over tomorrow to play with Millie. I walked one mile tonight. It was a beautiful sunset. Your current wife and favorite airman. XOXO 80

My Apologies.

Image
Autumn handed me a note today. My first thought was: Autumn? Do you have something to tell me? Autumn: well, I'm sorry I broke my bed. It fell again today. I told her that it really wasn't her fault the bed is broken. I don't want her jumping on it though. I don't want her to get hurt. I managed to crawl my behind out of bed before 630 this morning and get a little run in before the girls woke up. Anyway, not an overly exciting day, but just the right amount of busy. Tomorrow we are going to Rebecca's to swim and have lunch. I told Brandy (your pregnant ex-girlfriend), that I'd bring her famy dinner tomorrow. She broke her foot and is in a cast with two littles and a baby on the way. Thought I'd be nice. Your current wife and favorite airman. XOXO 79

Heat Advisory.

Image
It's so hot!!! Wah!!!! The girls are reduced to swimming in the pool at 9 am, out by 11, because after that, it is just too hot. While I was working out, Autumn was busy.... Breaking her bed? I had to take some things apart. Jam some things together. I think it is going to work? I did 4 miles today. I almost died. The girls helped me do chores today. I don't know what my problem is, but I just haven't felt like doing chores. With their help though, we got everything done. Our crepe myrtle is blooming. I think they need pruning, but I don't know what to do with it. We did gymnastics tonight. The girls wanted pizza, so we made homemade pizza. We are off to bed shortly. Hoping I can sleep tonight. Maybe I should take something to help me sleep. No plans for tomorrow, just gymnastics and church. Your current wife and favorite airman. XOXO 78

Rain App.

Image
I downloaded a rain app. I've been listening to it to help me sleep. I crave noise, but the TV puts off too much light. There is a timer on it and it just shuts off. I don't sleep well lately. We did free movies today on Ft Benning. I packed a lunch and after the movies, we went to Russ Pond to eat. It was too hot, so we ate in the Outback. I walked around. There were a lot of fish. Those larger one in the first picture had stripes on them. Anyway, after Benning, we came home and I pretty much stayed in bed. I'm not feeling so hot. I don't think Millie is either. Fathers Day.

This morning started off OK. Once we were ready for church, I couldn't find Autumn. I had Millie buckled in (Millie told me Autumn was in the Jeep, but when we got to it, she wasn't there). I come back in the house and still cannot find Autumn. Finally, she is hiding in her closet, completely crying. She won't tell me what is wrong, but that she doesn't want to go to church. To be honest, I was filled with dread about going myself, but I'm singing in the choir. I get her out to the car, she cried all the way to church. I dropped her off to her Sunday School class. I made eye contact with Rebecca. Her husband just left. I cry. I couldn't sit through my class, so I just sat in the sanctuary. I cry some more. I sang with the choir and as soon as we were done, I ask the girls if they want to go home. They jump at that and we leave. Autumn asks if we can go to eat and bring Grandpa. She picks Fuji Jap House. I can't get ahold o...
