Flu Mist.
We slept in this morning until 7 am. I was sleeping hard too. Millie woke me up.
Did I tell you that over the weekend, Miss Millie observed Jake and MaKenna opening and closing the doors? Millie is quite an excellent closer and I knew she could open a door, but she didn't know that.
I watched Millie make the connection when she saw Jake open a door. In her mind, she said, holy cow! If he can open the door and we are the same size, I CAN OPEN THE DOOR!
I thought to myself, my life as I have known it is over! When we got home, Millie sort of forgot, or so I thought. Last night, at bed time, Millie must have come out of her room 20 times. The first two times, she popped her little head around the corner and said, "boo." My mistake? I laughed. Now it is a game.
I kept escorting Millie back to her room, but to no avail. Finally, I told her I would spank her if she came out of her room one more time. That did the trick. That is only going to work for so long though. We have to do something about our doors. I worry that she will leave her room during the night and then leave the house.
Once everyone was awake, we had breakfast and then left for the doctors office. We all needed our flu shots.
Autumn cried about it a few times at home and I had a talk with her. I told her that we needed to teach Millie to be brave about getting shots and that if Autumn cried and got all upset, Millie would too. That seemed to get through to Autumn because she told me she would be brave.
Once we got to the doctor's office everyone was all smiles.
It was hard not to wonder how long that would last!
It has been so long since I've gone to the doctor, I couldn't remember how to get there.
The girls sure do love it in there.
Once the nurse took us back, she asked me did we want the flu mist of the flu shot. I asked her if one was recommended over the other and she said no. She handed me the fact sheets and the side effects looked pretty similar. So, I left it up to Autumn. I could tell the nurse thought that was weird, but I like to give Autumn options whenever possible. I told Autumn she could have the medicine squirted up her nose, or a shot in the leg. She picked up her nose.
The nurse left to get our vaccines, so
Time for people to act crazy. Millie was spinning.
Autumn was being Doc McAutumn.
Autumn reassuring Millie everything would be OK.
The nurse came back in and administered the vaccines with no problems. No crying, nothing. The girls both said thank you. They received their lollipops and we set up Autumn's 5 year old check. Holy cow! 5!!!!!!!!!!
We left from there and went to Target. I needed to get my flu shot too. I told the girls they could get popcorn and a drink as their treat. Wouldn't you know it, the popcorn machine was broken. They got a drink and then picked out princess wands from the dollar section.
I got my flu shot, we came home. Had lunch. Did nap time. Everyone napped except for Autumn.
We've had dinner, the girls had spaghetti and garlic bread, I had a spinach salad with balsamic vinegar, hard boiled eggs and sliced almonds. I also made my first smoothie and I really enjoyed it. Felt like having dessert.
We played some games, did some puzzles and Autumn picked out the Polar Express. She told me she missed her Elf. I cannot wait until Aurora comes back to see us!
I love you.
