Peters Creek to some saddle.
The official hike said something like Peter's Creek to Mount Eklutna.
I don't think we actually peaked Mount Eklutna.
We did however go up through some saddle.
Our total elevation gain was 2,274 feet to a max elevation of 3,329 feet.
The last mile of the hike up took me about an hour and a half.
Although Sean and I both had our micro spikes on, which truly did help in the beginning where there was lots of ice,
seemed to slow us down once we started up the saddle.
We were post holing part of this hike and that is exhausting, so I sent Sean ahead of me.
Then I stepped in his holes which made it easier for me.
I do have snow shoes, but they are a Christmas gift and awaiting me for Christmas.
Our microspikes/boots were collecting all sorts of snow.
At times, I was literally crawling to get up this saddle.
I fell numerous times.
I know Sean did too.
Dingo was the only one doing well on this hike.
Sean would throw a snowball and that dumb dog would run half way down the mountain chasing it and then run right back to us as if he didn't even exert himself.
When we finally reached the top of the saddle, it was pretty obvious there had been a recent avalanche.
We just finished an avalanche class and knew it wasn't smart to stay there, so we turned and went back down.
I will admit, I didn't talk to Sean all the way down the mountain.
It wasn't that I was mad at him.
I was just completely exhausted out by the hike.
