The Winter Solstice
Sean and I really wanted to join in on some winter solstice festivities.
Autumn has been sick all week with what I think was the flu.
Last night Millie came in my room about an hour before midnight and said her stomach really hurt and she thought she might puke.
I sent her to Autumn's bathroom and headed to get a bucket, a rag and a hair tie.
By the time I get back to Millie, she is puking and thank goodness it was in the toilet!
I pull Millie's hair back (touch a little throw up--- ewwww!) and then go disinfect my hands.
Millie flushes the toilet and turns around and says, I feel so much better.
Still, I hand her the bucket and tell her to put it somewhere she will be able to find it in case she throws up again.
Around 3 am, she was puking again.
I inform Sean that it is his turn!!
He goes and takes care of the throw up and gives her back the bucket.
Millie went back to sleep and didn't throw up again.
Even still, with the temperature being zero, we didn't think it prudent to drag the girls outside.
Sean and I decided we would go to the Eagle River Nature Center and check out there winter solstice event and I'm so glad we did.
It was very tranquil.
I never realized how important the solstice is.
When you live in a place likeHell, Georgia, the solstice doesn't mean very much, but here.
Oh that is a different story.
By the time we hit the solstice, we are down to 5 hours and 35 minutes (or so) of daylight.
After the solstice, instead of losing daylight, we so very slowly start gaining daylight until we hit 24 hours of sunshine by the summer solstice.
It's worth celebrating!
