Chewacla State Park.
Being sick and not sleeping does not make for a good combination. It took me forever to fall asleep last night and not from lack of being tired, but every time I heard a car go by, I went to the window to look. I did sleep with the gun on the nightstand. I think I fell asleep around midnight. Thankfully, nothing woke me up. That is until this morning around 730 when Autumn came in.
I got up and made us some coffee, then formulated a plan for the day. I decided we would go to a place called Chewacla State Park. I wanted to go somewhere we had not been before and I didn't want to drive more than about an hour. This fit the bill.
Being silly this morning.
Our first stop at the park was the playground.
Shouldn't this be the other way around? Millie was really enjoying that Autumn was freaking out about being up in the air, so she didn't push off to lift her side, she just stayed right there!
A bridge to another park. On the lake was a platform with a diving board. They also had paddle boats and canoes out there. I have a feeling this place is crazy during the summer.
Autumn was so excited about this crane.
He let me get reasonably close to him.
When we got there this morning, it was a little on the breezy side.
It looks life fall, but it certainly doesn't feel like fall to me.
It didn't take long before we all lost our coats.
I finally convinced the girls to go hiking!
We drove to the trail head, parked and then found some picnic tables. It is easier for me to get Millie on my back if we start off on a table. I mean, I can do it without it, but it is easier to just set the thing on a table.
Autumn took this picture so I figured I would include it.
We located the trail.
We were off.
This thing was pretty down hill. Autumn had to hold my hand all the way down because she kept tripping, slipping and falling (on the leaves).
We could hear the falls before we could see them. Thankfully, it did not take very long to get to them.
There were probably better views down river, but it was tricky maneuvering everyone around. I am sure you can relate.
Autumn, being her very adventurous self, did not stick around very much with Millie and me. She went off exploring and I let her.
I did tell her to be careful.
Sweet, sweet Millie.
We wanted to get closer to the falls. We had to navigate around the rocks and water some to do that. Millie would not walk at all. I had to carry her and keep a close eye on Autumn.
I thought this view was very pretty.
Not sure what that hole was all about, but I have no doubt you would have explored it.
Cheese water falls.
So right about this time, Autumn fell in the water.
She was very upset, but it really wasn't bad. Her foot was all muddy and her pants were wet to the ankle. I told her it was alright, we had a change of clothes at the car that it really was not a big deal. She started to calm down and then went in the water again! Of course it was the other foot! She sort of freaked out again. We went over the no big deal thing again!
Is something happening?
Autumn was not a happy camper! I am so glad we brought a change of clothes AND shoes with us!
I thought it was time for some more random Roww sightings.
We got Autumn all cleaned up and changed. She requested to go back to the playground, so I obliged.
We bumped into this guy again.
I was thinking about you.
The girls were back at the slide and Autumn wanted to "catch" Millie.
Good job. Millie did fall off the slide earlier, so I thought that was very helpful.
Now Millie is going to catch Autumn. This should be entertaining.
Does this look like fall to you?
Smiles for miles.
We are home now. I have to do some housework. We are going to pack our suitcases tomorrow. I am kind of glad that I will be going to my mom's this week. If creeper comes by, I won't be here. I am going to go and talk to our neighbors to the left and to the right and tell them about the creepy truck guy.
I wish I could have talked to you today.
I love you and I really miss you. Both the girls said the same thing. Autumn wants to bring you back to this place, but she says that about every place we visit. I am glad I can be the kind of mom that takes them out for these sort of experiences rather than staying at home all the time.
