Crooked eye.
This has been an absolutely awful day. Full of all sorts of tears.
Autumn woke up this morning in a very foul mood. She didn't want to go to school, she didn't want to cooperate, she didn't want to get ready for school. It was very frustrating. I didn't yell. I didn't scream, but I was extremely frustrated. After what felt like nagging for an hour, we got in the car and got going.
Once we got out of the neighborhood, Autumn just burst into tears and cried and cried and cried. She told me she was sorry for ruining my morning and she told Millie the same thing. It was truly awful. She calmed down before getting to school and I told Ms Angie when I dropped her off that Autumn had been having a rough morning.
I cried all the way home. It just hurts my heart to see Autumn so upset.
So, I get Millie off to school and then ran an errand to Walmart (needed milk). I came home and cried some more. Seriously, I just could not stop crying today. I got all the Halloween decorations put away. I managed to not kill myself in the process. Going up that ladder is so scary!
I went and picked the girls up and Ms Sandi told me that Millie had a melt down at school. She cried for you. Millie has never done that either. WOW! I guess we are just sad girls today.
We came home, did lunch and then headed out with your mom to the eye doctor.
The doctor took her measurements and then gave me a card to go over the symbols with Millie.
Besides the letters, Millie needs to know all these symbols. The only one she was not sure of was the telephone. I told her it was a telephone and she got it right. Now the eye doctor taped her right eye (put tape on the lens of her glasses) and then put the symbols on the door (8-10 feet away)? Millie got all the symbols correct.
Now it was time for her right eye (the crooked eye). Millie didn't get a single one right. She kept telling me "I don't know it." A few times she made a guess, but it was wrong. The doctor said that she wanted me to go over the symbols with Millie in case she didn't know them. Well, I personally think that is ridiculous. How can you know the symbols with one eye and then suddenly forget them with the other?
Your mom thinks that the doctor was going through the symbols too fast and moving the screen around too much. I think that Millie just could not see them. I was holding a paper that the doctor gave me with the symbols that started off large and got smaller and with her right eye, Millie got all the symbols correct down to the smallest line. On the smallest line, Millie didn't get any correct.
I was somewhat alarmed thinking that Millie couldn't see anything from her right eye. So this is the deal. We will go back in January after practicing our symbols. They are going to reassess her vision. She said that she is pretty sure she is going to patch Millie's eye again. She says this will strengthen the vision in her right eye. We will go back in March and then schedule Millie's surgery.
In March, if we actually do schedule, I'll be sure to make sure it is scheduled for after May, no exceptions. I do not want eye surgery to interfere with school, your return home, Disney world or Millie's birthday.
Since Autumn and Millie did so well, I took the girls for Cherry Berry.
Autumn is still acting out some this evening, but she isn't sad anymore. She did tell me she had a great day at school.
Miss Crooked eye.
Grandma and Millie.
Our sweet girls.
Well, I am feeling really drained this evening. My face hurts. My head hurts. My heart hurts. I'm going to reheat leftovers for dinner and head off to bed.
I love you and I hope you are well.
Your current wife and favorite airman. xoxo
The count: 118 and 5 days without you.
