Pi.
To be perfectly honest with you, I wanted to bake a pie for Pi day. Then, without my consent, it was 84 degrees. That is way too hot to have the oven going for a pie. Maybe next year.
The last I wrote to you was about how the girls were really sad. Well, after every rain, the sun must shine.
Autumn took me outside to show me how to make a hop scotch.
She was really enjoying this.
She was explaining it to me like I had never heard of it before.
Watching her play makes me happy too.
After hop scotch, we headed out to soccer.
Do you see the midget (in purple, right hand side)? Millie kept trying to participate. I broke out in a sweat chasing that girl down. I'll be glad when you are here and one of us can give her our undivided attention and the other Autumn.
Autumn squaring off. He blocked it. I'm not sure if you can see the set up very well, but they split her team into two groups, boys and girls, except for Autumn. She was put with the boys. I'm guessing I wasn't the only one to notice that she was doing better than the rest of the girls.
I think it is easier to tell in this photo. After some practice like this, they sort of played a game. Autumn got lost in the mess. She is so much smaller than everyone else and you could tell she was afraid of getting run over. I could tell she wasn't enjoying it very much. I'm hoping that she gets the hang of it after a while. Maybe it is something we can help her with. At one point the coach threw the ball in right at her, but it bounced off the ground and hit her in the gut. She yelled at her coach, "You just hurt me!" Then she left the game and came and told me she wasn't playing, "forever and ever and ever forever." OY!
We went home, went to bed early (all of us) and today, Pi day, was Millie's big eye appointment. Your mom met us at the house and we headed over there. Emelia's doctor told me that her eye is still turning in, even while looking at things in the distance. As it stands right now, her numbers would indicate that she will need surgery, but first they need to see how the other options will work. Our first step is to use an eye patch. Her next appointment is scheduled for May 8th, so beginning on May 4th, Emelia will wear an eye patch on one eye for 24 hours, then switch to the other eye for 24 hours. This will go on for four days. The doctor was very adamant that she must wear it the entire time for four days (even while in bed). They are going to see how that changes/affects (or is it effects?) her vision. Depending on what happens, they will then place eye drops in her eye that paralyzes the eye. Depending on how that works out, they may give her glasses. Finally depending on what happens with glasses, she may need surgery. The doctor said that it is possible that any one of these options will cure her eye, that it is a process that we will have to go through. I am sort of thinking that since other people in your family have had this same issue, that an eye patch and/or glasses may do the trick. That is the hope anyway. I would like to avoid surgery if at all possible. I would like to add that Emelia did outstanding with the doctor and I really liked the lady that we saw (the specialist). She referred to Emelia as sweet potato and eventually was just calling her potato. I thought it was cute. Lastly, while we were in the waiting area, Emelia stood up on some chairs behind me. I was walking around to grab her when another woman picked Emelia up, she was closer to her than I was. Emelia screamed bloody murder. I thought for sure she was going to freak out when we got in to see the doc, but nope, she was easy going and very agreeable!
Once done with the doctors office, we swung by the park, it was on the way home afterall.
We were having a blast!
More Hop Scotch.
After all this running around, we were HOT! Sweating even. I enticed the girls to head home by offering to play in the:
Sprinkles!!!!!!!!!!!!
Millie walks up to me and says "wet." Then wants me to change her clothes! Silly girl.
Autumn loved it.
Let me tell you, that water was COLD!
Watch out!
Autumn Harvest is such a bad girl sometimes!
Poor Millie! She just squealed with laughter.
Watering Grandma.
Cheese.
Autumn making sprinkles.
Millie trying to catch the water.
Then Millie got the bright idea to get Autumn back!
Millie would throw water out and exclaim, "TA DA!"
I'm telling you what, Millie cannot catch a break sometimes!
Millie didn't even cry! She did however get goose bumps and start shivering. I pulled her over to the shade because I was worried they would get sunburned.
So, even though we were sad, and still are, we also had a great day today. We love you and miss you so, so, so, so much! To the moon and back.
