A new chain.
I say a new chain because I have done a chain in the past. After mine and Autumn's meltdown yesterday, I was thinking this just might do the trick. You can only tell a girl for so long that "it isn't much longer now" before she begins to question how much longer is it really. I mean even if I told her the exact number of days, that wouldn't really give her an idea either. She doesn't really have that sort of awareness yet.
When we started making our chains, it turns out that both girls wanted to have their own, so we made two.
First we had to eat cookies.
Then pull Autumn out of her tent.
Autumn.
Sweet Millie. Can you tell she had just woke up from her nap?
Something Millie made in school. Autumn asked her if she made it for her and Millie told her no, that she made it for Millie. I guess Autumn was persistent enough and Millie finally just said, "Fine, for Autumn." It cracked me up!
Millie cried for this earlier in the week. Her lion.
This is where the chains will be displayed. Once it gets short enough, I'll move them down the pole so the girls can reach them.
Autumn still says it is taking too long and honestly she sort of freaked out when she saw the whole package of paper. She thought we were making a link using ALL the paper.
I'm not really sure Millie understands what we were doing at all. I mean, she gets that you are away and it will be a while longer until you are home, but I'm not so sure she understands what the links are for.
It is sort of crazy to think about that you have been away for 187 days now. That is a LONG time. If you put both of their chains together, it wouldn't be enough to show how many days you have been away!
Next is a video of Autumn. To help put it in perspective... it was a very cloudy day and it is the middle of "winter."
Autumn came up with her show and tell all by herself. Remember, I put stuff in her bag to take for show and tell and she was angry about you not being here for her birthday so she told me she wasn't doing show and tell. When I dropped her off to school, she was looking at the "w" stuff I put in her bag. It looked like she was having second thoughts. I was worried this would lead to a meltdown during school, but what could I do now? I guess at the last minute, Autumn came up with something all on her own!
We are planning to do up some pizza for dinner and a movie. It is Thursday night after all, no school tomorrow!
I love you.

The count: 118 and 69 days of counting down to you.
