A dinner success.

Considering I am not the one who does the cooking around here, I am always excited when a meal I make turns out to be successful.

Before I get to that though....

Little Miss Millie all ready for school this morning. She wanted to wear her Cinderella skirt underneath her dress and to finish the outfit, tennis shoes. I do my best to allow Millie to pick her clothing every day and unless she is indecent, I let her wear what she picks out. Millie went to school pleased as punch.

I pretty much chilled out all day until after nap time.

Then I began cleaning. I did not get to do my regularly scheduled chores on Monday thanks to the flood in the kitchen with the dishwasher. I had stuff to take care of today. While I cleaned, the girls:

I finally bought batteries for our tree topper.

Sweet Autumn. Miss Keri told me when I picked Autumn up from school today that Autumn is so well behaved. I told her that on our way to school, I told Autumn that Miss Keri's birthday was on Monday. Autumn was very excited about that and asked me what should we get her. I told Autumn I wasn't sure, maybe she should ask Miss Keri. Miss Keri said to me that she wished all the kids would behave as well as Autumn did and that is what she would like for her birthday! HA!

I guess this is my life for a little while. At least the dishwasher is useful.

After I was done cleaning and had dinner in the oven, the girls and I worked on a project.

Photobucket
We are going to grow some candy canes.

Photobucket
Autumn's has the red bow and Millie's has the green one. That is sugar in the jar. I smashed up some candy cane seeds and the girls planted them in the sugar.

Photobucket
Once they planted their seeds, they had to sprinkle glitter over the top. I told them that tonight when Aurora flew to Santa, he would give her some magic that she would sprinkle on the candy cane seeds.

Autumn is so excited!!!

Photobucket
Smiles for miles.

Pushing the candy seeds down.

Can you tell she is enjoying this?

She is also having a lot of fun.

Photobucket
She is so precise.

Glitter time!

Beautiful Autumn.

Millie's glitter!!

All done! We set them on the counter (by we, I mean Autumn) near Aurora's cracker and water that Autumn left her. Autumn thinks that Aurora gets hungry and thirsty from all that flying.

So I guess tonight when I put the candy canes in those jars, I will also eat a cracker and dump out the water!

After finishing up our project, we had dinner.

Pecan roasted pork chops over garlic smashed potatoes with a side of corn. The girls did very well eating their dinner minus Millie and the mashed potatoes. I was not trying to be evil by offering them to her, but you just never know when she might change her mind and eat them. I really enjoyed mine, but I was a little concerned they were slightly underdone. I think they were fine though (and probably over done).

I got Autumn off to bed at 730 tonight and Millie just a little after that. Autumn needs to get to bed earlier. She is waking up so late for school in the morning that I feel like we are rushing out the door and I don't like that feeling and I talked to Autumn about it and she doesn't like it either. I am seriously considering getting her some sort of cool alarm clock for her birthday or Christmas. I saw some National Geographic or maybe it was Discovery Channel clocks that looked pretty neat.

Something like this...

They project images onto the ceiling. I think she might really like something like that. What do you think?

Tomorrow night is my Sunday school's class Christmas celebration. I am making Cherry crunch for that. I am also thinking about going for a run tomorrow morning or maybe a walk. I am not sure.

I have been thinking about you a lot Sean. I wish we could be together for the holidays. I have this love/hate relationship with the lessons are daughters are learning in your absence. On the one hand, they are learning how to cope with what feels like a huge whole in their hearts and on the other hand, they are learning how precious things like spending time together as a family unit are. People take that for granted.

On that note, I bid you goodnight sir.

I love you and miss you so very much.

Your current wife and favorite airman, plus the permanent dishwasher. xoxo

The count: 118 and 40 days of coping without you.
