Train ride.

I'm guessing you already saw the news about those poor children who were gunned down in an elementary school. As if I wasn't already struggling with the idea of Autumn going to kindergarten next year, but now some jackass went into an elementary school and took out a kindergarten class. How do you explain something like that? How do you send your child to school with that sort of craziness going on in the world? I just do not know. All I can do at this point is pray for the families of the survivors.

Last night the girls and I went to church for my Sunday School Christmas Party. The girls and I went down the hall to grab a couple of toys and I noticed this:

There were four of them and they were hanging on the wall outside Millie's classroom. I asked Millie which one was hers and she pointed to this one. Good job Millie.

After grabbing a few toys, we headed back to the Banister Hall where the party was at. There was chili, hot wings, cheeses, pigs in a blanket, and all sorts of desserts. We ate until we couldn't eat anymore and then began the gift exchange.

We picked #'s and I was #6. I let Autumn pick out our gift and we ended up with:

A gum ball machine. I let Autumn hold it, which was an excellent strategy because NO ONE was going to take a gift from a little girl!!

Some of the other great prizes? A cookie jar cactus.

A dashboard Dancing Hawaiian.

Photobucket
A very creepy Kabuki doll.

Monkey candle holders.

A reindeer hat that sings Grandma got run over by a reindeer. Those antlers move! This is Allison by the way. Her husband is in Afghanistan. Her children are grown, but we have bonded and I really appreciate her kind words with me.

There were some other great gifts, but I don't have pictures of them.

We got home a little after 9 pm and the girls went to bed right around 10 pm. This morning when we woke up, we were all tired. I was going to take the girls to the park, but it was so windy I decided the mall was a better bet. First we had to get ready.

What Autumn's hair looks like all brushed out. It is starting to get long.

Curlyfied. It looks so short!

I decided to head over to the mall. We looked around, but didn't see anything to buy.

The girls played at the food court for a bit and we headed over to Sears. I wanted to look at dishwashers and check the good old clearance rack.

In Sears we had to go to the 2nd floor for appliances and kids clothes. We did some looking around and then everyone had to use the bathroom. When we came out of the bathroom, I was holding Millie in one arm and in the other I had: Millie's cup, Millie's coat, Millie's blanket, Autumn's coat, Autumn's blanket and Autumn's blue bear. I had A LOT OF things in my hand.

We walk over to the escalator, Autumn is right behind me. I get on and turn around. Autumn says she needs my hand. I have no free hand!!!!!!!!!!!! I told her just step on. She wouldn't do it. I couldn't get off the escalator. Autumn starts crying. A woman walks up behind Autumn and is giving me the YOU ARE THE WORST MOTHER IN THE WORLD STARE. I'm telling Autumn to stand right there. There is now a crowd building in front of the escalator with everyone standing around looking stupid, Autumn crying. I get on the up escalator and finally a woman picks Autumn up and walks her over to me. I tell Autumn, "so how do you feel about elevators?" The crowd of like ten people start chuckling. I was not really very amused though. I was completely mortified. I cannot believe that happened. I know it was my fault and I should have made Autumn walk in front of me, but was it necessary to give me dirty looks. I learned my lesson.

1. I am not carrying anymore blankets.

2. We are not using an escalator if there is an elevator handy.

3. Autumn goes FIRST on the escalator next time.

Good grief!!!!!!!!!!

This came to the front door today. The fedex guy rang the bell and left it. It looked just like that. I have seen several posts from friends about Christmas presents being spoiled, so when I saw the fedex guy was leaving, I told the girls he must have had the wrong address. I put the girls in the car, backed the car out of the garage, parked the car. Went back in the house, closed the garage door and then smuggled the gift into the house and right to the attic. This is not the doll house I wanted, but the one I wanted was sold out. Oh well. I am wondering how many hours it will take me to put it together? This would have definitely been one of those things I would have had you take care of!!!

This afternoon both the girls slept from about 2 pm until 5 pm. I am afraid they are NEVER going to bed tonight. I know I am going to have a hard time sleeping because I am so excited about this weekend.

We are headed to Georgia Veterans State Park. We will be staying at Lake Blackshear Resort. We are planning to explore the park and then hop on the train right there at the park and do our Polar Express Train ride. I am so stinking excited! I think I am more excited than the little people. Anyway, I am hoping to get a ton of pictures and hoping that we have ton of fun. Honestly, I am looking forward to getting away from the computer for awhile.

I plan to do some hiking around the park on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday evening we will have the Christmas Pageant at church. Monday is Autumn's class party and Tuesday is Millie's. It is A BIG week!!!!!!!

I still haven't worked it out yet, but somehow Aurora will bring the news of the train ride. Do you think I should sneak her with us??????

I Love you and miss you so much. Hard to believe you won't be going with us.

Your current wife and favorite airman. xoxo

The count: 118 and 42 days of getting through without you.
