The Jordans- Cherish, Sean, Autumn and Emelia

I got up and ran in the hotel at the gym. We got on the road and at the last minute, decided to stop and have lunch at Little Bighorn. Sean and I have been here before and the mood is very somber. I don't really know my fascination with this, but I'm intrigued at being able to see where the troops died along the hill. After eating our leftover pizza from the night before we got on the road again. Still seeing very dark clouds around us, but very little in the way of rain. I do enjoy seeing the windmills. At some point, I really start to struggle with staying awake, so I've started drinking red bull (which by the way, I would not normally ever do, but when you start drifting to sleep on the road, you have to do something). Somehow, I managed to get red bull in my eye when I was opening it. That burned, but yes, it sure did help me to stay awake. After we get checked in to our hotel, we go for a walk and discover this little veterans memorial

We drove from Sioux City, Iowa to Mount Rushmore, South Dakota (455 miles) and then decided to stay the night in Spearfish, South Dakota (another 20 miles). Total miles driven = 1,662!!! This day was the first time we saw sleet/snow and it was between Mount Rushmore and Deadwood. We went to a fish hatchery in Spearish that was really amazing. We had dinner at a place called the dough trader and it was pretty good although I believe we ordered way too much food! We saw either a blacktail or mule deer (photographed) and at our hotel, I did laundry for the first time on the trip while the kids swam. I think I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!
