Park of the Midnight Sun.

Image
To any of my fellow readers that have access to Elmendorf, I highly recommend the Park of the Midnight Sun (it's on Arctic Warrior near Burger King). Autumn and Dylan had a date (shall I specify, a PLAY date) there today. I'll let the photos do the talking. Brace yourself for an Autumn Dylan overload! Chatting it up. Driving Miss Autumn. That look on Dylan's face cracks me up. Autumn having a good time. Taking a break. Cutie Pie. OMG these two loved this thing. Yes that is the bright neon pink workout uniform Julie gave me. Don't I look hot in it?? Dylan placed his hand ever so gently on Autumn's leg. Autumn loved this slide, but it was huge and went very fast. I was too chicken to send her down by herself. I know her Dad would probably have done it, but what can I say? Top of the slide. Dylan at the top of the slide. A rare smile from Mr D. These two are so cute on their date. Autumn enjoying a swing. Dylan enjoying a swing. Having a go on the tire swing.

A big welcome home!

This morning when Autumn woke up, that "scab" on the back of her head was gone. I'm somewhat perplexed by this. It reminds me of an episode of "Friends" where Joey and Chandler left a baby on the bus. Do you know what I am talking about?? When they get back to the transportation office, they have to decide between two kids which one is Ben and they pick the kid with the freckle only to discover that the freckle moves. Anyway, I was feeling anxious about how Autumn would react to you at the airport. I got her ready to go and off we went. She acted like a complete savage at the airport-she kept trying to get over to the escalator. Uh yeah, I'm going to let her near an escalator. When you finally started to walk down the hall, she found a bottle cap and was much more interested in that than you. After a few seconds though, out came the big old grin. Time for a photo: Autumn and her daddy. Off to wait for the bags. Autumn was entertained by: Stuffed b

Finally, almost home!

Less than 24 hours until you get home. I am so excited to see you again. I wonder if I will recognize you? Autumn had quite a day. She fell at the gym this morning and busted her nose. It bled a little bit. Then she smacked the top of her head on some equipment, then she fell at McDonald's and hit her forehead, then she fell on the pavement and scraped her hands. My poor child has had a very rough day. I noticed something on the back of Autumn's head this evening and I thought for sure it was a tick. It kind of freaked me out. This was the best photo I could get of it. I did not want to take her to the emergency room to be told it was a scab or something, but I didn't want to leave a tick on the back of her head either. SO, after a quick call to Dr. Travis, we decided on a consult. Dr. Travis said it was definitely a scab. How or where she got this scab from is completely beyond me. After totally disturbing Dr Travis and Cindy on their kid free date, excuse me t

Is it Friday yet?

I know I've said this like a million times, but it feels like you have been gone for FOREVER. I was so glad when I got to talk to you yesterday. I felt like a teenager all over again, wondering if you were going to call, then we talked for almost two hours. When is the last time you talked on the phone for THAT long?? We had an interesting day around here. Autumn and I ran an errand over at the University Center and I wanted to show you something that Cindy found for me. This backpack is so stinking cute on her. It gives her some independence and it gives me some "control." I can admit that it is not much control. Autumn slowly touches the tree like she thinks it is Pepper Annie. I'm not sure what that is all about. Back to the pack. I like that I can store her cup in there and she likes that too. Taking a sip. I thought we were ready to get walking, but alas... Had to stop for another sip. OK, we are off. Guess where our next stop is?? I promise you, your

Sleeping babes.

I just love seeing these two sleep. Dylan sleeping. Autumn sleeping. These sleeping photos are from yesterday. Let me tell you, there wasn't much to nap time today. Dylan woke up and was upset which in turn woke Autumn up. Once we got Dylan settled back down, Autumn was having nothing to do with going to sleep. We got them out of their perspective beds and strapped them into their joggers and off to the park we went. These two children love the park. Cindy sent Dylan down the slide and it was kind of funny. He sort of turned around to reach back for her like maybe he didn't want to go down. I think Dylan just wanted to check out other stuff at the park (please note your daughter in the background). Did you notice there was not much sunshine? The clouds rolled in during "nap" time and I do not think we are supposed to get anymore sunny days this week. While we were at the park, the wind started to blow and it felt cold. It was kind of a bummer for me. I cann

Welcome home to our heroes!!

Autumn, Dylan, Cindy and I went up to the squadron to welcome home our heroes. Halliday, Andrews, Sandoval and Craine made it safely home today after a tour in Iraq. I am so glad we did not go up to the airport because Angie said she cried, Riley did not recognize her daddy (even though they speak almost daily on the webcam) and just talking to her about it at the squadron made my eyes a little teary. Autumn kept staring at Davis like, are YOU my dad? After getting a really good look at him, she decided he wasn't. It is so hard to think about you deploying to Afghanistan and all the things you are going to miss out on. Anyway...... This afternoon, Autumn and Dylan rode together in the back seat of my car and when I turned around to look at them, they were holding hands across their car seats. It was SO cute. I wanted a picture of it, but by the time I got my cell phone ready, they had let go. I wish you could have seen it!! I'm sorry no pictures today. I would also like

Basking in the sun.

It was such a beautiful day today. It was sunny and warm (got up to 49 degrees-maybe even a tad bit warmer). If you are an Alaskan and did not do something outside today, SHAME ON YOU!!! Last summer we had maybe a handful of days like today. After our workout at the gym this morning, we picked up BBQ and had a picnic with Cindy and Dylan on the back porch. I decided I needed to get a tan. Autumn needs one too! Hieeeeeeeeeee! Shortly after lunch, I put Autumn down for her nap. She woke up maybe twenty minutes later, so I got her up and we walked to the commissary to pick up a few ingredients for dinner. After we walked back home, I changed her diaper, refilled her milk and we headed right back out the door. We walked to the big park on Fort Richardson. We stayed there for quite some time and I got a ton of great photos. This post is going to be long because of all these photos, but I assume you do not mind. Thanks to that really short nap, she totally fell asleep on the way th
